Dear Reader,

Did you know that fashion in the 1940s was a mix of glamour and comfort?

Women would style classic shoulder pads, tight formal mini skirts and stacked oxford heels. The era is remembered for its specific look especially due to many actresses like Joan Crawford and Ava Gardner who showcased the beauty of a then new silhouette.

Personally, I am fascinated by the iconic bright colours and statement jewellery of the 1940s. Discovering a classic bright orange blazer in my mother’s closet I realised that the opportunity to bring the 1940s alive again cannot be missed. The photograph above resembles my best attempt at doing just that. May fashion across all eras be remembered and celebrated.

Tip for the day: To create a vintage photo effect ensure to lower saturation, increase contrast and apply a fade when editing.

Love,

Maryke.
